Recommended Cable Clamp Spacing

Date: | Read: 56

The following illustrates the calculation of the required tensile strength per cable clamp based on a fixed center spacing/pitch.

Ft = 0.17 ip
2 / S
Ft = Maximum repulsion force of cable conductor (N/m)

0.17 (190 x 190) / (36 / 1000) = 170,477.22 N/m
Cable Ø = 36mm ip = 190kA
Mounting spacing: 300mm (x 0.3) = 51,141.67N per cable clamp

0.17 (190 x 190) / (36 / 1000) = 170,477.22 N/m
Cable Ø = 36mm ip = 190kA
Mounting spacing: 600mm (×0.6) = 102,283.33N per cable clamp
This cable clamp layout provides twice the restraining force per cable clamp compared to the above layout (300mm).

0.17 (190 x 190) / (36 / 1000) = 170,477.22 N/m
Cable Ø = 36mm ip = 190kA
Mounting spacing: 900mm (×0.9) = 153,424.00N per cable clamp
This Cable Clamp layout provides 1.5 times the restraint per cable clamp compared to the above layout (600mm), or 3 times the restraint compared to the first layout (300mm).
