Material Of Stainless Steel Cable Ties
The material of Stainless Steel Cable Tie is mainly high-quality stainless steel, among which the most common are 304 stainless steel and 316 stainless steel grades.
304 grade stainless steel
Composition
Chromium (Cr): about 18% – 20%, chromium is the main component of stainless steel, providing corrosion resistance.
Nickel (Ni): about 8% – 10.5%, nickel increases the toughness and strength of stainless steel.
Carbon (C): maximum 0.08%, lower carbon content helps improve corrosion resistance.
Manganese (Mn) and silicon (Si): as auxiliary components, contribute to the strength and hardness of stainless steel.
Other elements: including phosphorus (P), sulfur (S) and nitrogen (N), their content is usually very low.
Features
304 stainless steel is one of the most commonly used types of stainless steel, mainly due to its excellent corrosion resistance and cost-effectiveness. 304 stainless steel cable ties have good rust resistance and can withstand most oxidizing environments. It is suitable for a variety of environments, including outdoor, dry and chemical corrosion conditions. Due to its high heat resistance, 304 stainless steel cable ties are also suitable for high temperature environments, but are not recommended for use in high salt or acidic environments.
316 Grade Stainless Steel
Composition
Chromium (Cr): Approximately 16% – 18%, similar to 304, chromium provides basic corrosion resistance.
Nickel (Ni): 10% – 14%, higher nickel content in 316 to enhance its overall performance.
Molybdenum (Mo): 2% – 3%, molybdenum greatly improves corrosion resistance to chlorides (such as seawater).
Carbon (C): Maximum 0.08%, similar to 304, low carbon levels are maintained to enhance corrosion resistance.
Also contains auxiliary components such as manganese (Mn) and silicon (Si).
Features
Compared with 304, 316 stainless steel has superior corrosion resistance, especially for marine and chemical corrosive environments. It contains additional molybdenum elements, which improves its resistance to salt water and chlorides. Therefore, 316 stainless steel cable ties are particularly suitable for marine environments, chemical plants, and high-salt areas.
