Can Metal Waterproof Cable Connectors Be Waterproof?
Recently, many customers at cable construction sites have called to ask "Can Nylon Cable Gland be waterproof?" Today, the editor will give a simple answer.
The joint can be waterproof during construction, but when making water, you need to pay attention to the following aspects.
1. How to waterproof the general joint? One of the simpler methods is to use waterproof tape, but the service life of waterproof tape is not very long and needs to be replaced frequently. It is suitable for general waterproof occasions. If you have high requirements for waterproofing, you can choose a special waterproof adapter box, place the joint in the box, and then add insulating glue. Note that the glue should fill the box.
2. In order to ensure the waterproof effect and allow the joint to operate for a longer time, it is generally recommended that you use double-wall glue-coated heat shrink tubing and insulating tubing with good waterproof effect. If you want to increase the pressure on the joint and cable at the joint connection, you can add an additional sheath tube. The sheath tube can enhance the insulation performance of the joint, thereby increasing the protection effect. The heat shrink tube insulation sleeve used should be a high-strength pressure product itself, so that a relatively good insulation effect can be achieved.
3. When connecting, you should adopt a staggered docking method, so that the connection is safer and more reliable.
Special reminder: When connecting 35kV cables and medium and low voltage cable connectors, if there is water in the environment, you must do a good job of waterproofing and sealing the connectors.
It should be known that for industrial equipment, especially outdoor equipment, such as outdoor lighting equipment and sprinkler trucks, waterproof performance is very important. If the sealing performance is not good, its service life will be greatly shortened, especially rainwater and water droplets enter the interior of the equipment along the line, which is very likely to cause damage to electronic components and even cause irreparable losses to the entire equipment.
We learned from the connector market that some manufacturers produce connectors with poor waterproof performance. When the cable locking part is under a certain pressure, it is easy to get water in, thereby affecting the safety of the line. Therefore, the waterproof performance of the connector must be taken seriously.
When purchasing connectors, choosing high-quality connectors with high protection levels can effectively solve the problem of waterproofing difficulties in harsh environments. In recent years, Antell's technical research and development team has also been studying the waterproof sealing problem of connectors.
After the cable is led out through the equipment, it is fixed at the opening end of the equipment through the joint and the sealing ring. The cable is led out from the middle of the joint and the locking nut is tightened at the front end of the joint to improve the waterproof sealing performance. According to actual testing, the protection level can reach IP68.
The parts needed for the joint include the basic body, nut, gasket, clamping ring and locking nut, and the materials used include stainless steel and rubber.
