Cable Clamp Nut Washer
Fully threaded bolts are widely used as standard in the industry, ensuring that the cable clamp can cope with a range of cable diameters. However, using fully threaded bolts can cause damage to the cable in high-intensity short-circuit faults.
The Cable Clip nut washer, standard on all of our hinged cable clamps, ensures that the cable does not come into contact with the threaded portion of the cable clamp closure bolt, regardless of the size of the cable clamp or the cable diameter.
In more than three hundred cable clamp short-circuit tests conducted, the cables experience tremendous repulsion forces in high-intensity short-circuit situations. At this stage, the cables repel each other and try to break the fixed cable clamp. Any sharp edges, such as the threads that come into contact with the cable, can damage the cable insulation, which can have catastrophic consequences depending on the peak fault current. Once the cable insulation is severely damaged, poor grounding can occur, creating a life-threatening environment in the vicinity.
Washer and bolt combination - one size fits all
The cable clamp uses a partially threaded bolt where the nut washer is connected, ensuring that the cable never comes into contact with the threads. With these and the cable clamp pad as standard, the cable will only come into contact with smooth surfaces.
The cable clamp is available for a range of different cable diameters.
